Biogas studies
Gaia has carried out several biogas studies for public and private sector. These projects have included identification of best available technology, technical and economical feasibility as well as risks in small and medium scale biogas production (2004-2008).
A case study was carried out for Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on production and feasibility of gaseous biofuels at Finnish farms. Since the feasibility of renewable energy e.g. biogas depends significantly on taxation, political actions related to utilisation of biogas in power production at farms and as transportation fuel were analysed.
Another comprehensive example is a project where Gaia assessed technical due diligence on small scale CHP-technology targeted to Central European biogas markets. The study included evaluation of technical and economical feasibility. Also a comprehensive risk analysis of technical, operational, strategic, economical and political risks were carried. Furthermore Gaia provided strategic consulting for the management of the company to develop project management system and tools for company’s new business concept. Gaia has also implemented various studies related to utilisation of landfill gases for on-site heat and power production (CHP).
