Sustainable Kerava Demonstration Project
Gaia helps the city of Kerava, Finland, to indentify concrete and cost-efficient measures to enhance sustainability and to implement them into the everyday operations. Focus is laid on real estate operations, land use and traffic planning as well as on material management including waste management and procurement. (City of Kerava, 2010)
This three-phase project starts with a study of the current status of sustainable development in Kerava. Secondly, options for enhancing the status of sustainable development are indentified and analysed in the light of national and international examples and best practices. Thirdly, measures for improving sustainability are selected and applied.
