"Mikko has a long career covering all the sides in the energy field. He worked at Olkiluoto nuclear power plant at safety issues, started a new business for a big power company Fortum Oy and ran its subsidiary IVOINFRA Oy as CEO. He was Market and Sales director for new multifuel boilers at A.Ahlstrom Corporation, led energy and process industry research unit of 500 hundred people at the Technical research Center of Finland and, before joining Gaia, was Project Director and CEO for a wood based biodiesel Forest BtL Oy project that won EU support around 100 M€.

Between these tasks, he has been an evaluator of various European Research Centers, like RISO and VITO, as well as, country specific strategic research units to be established. He also held a position as Electricity Market professor for a period. He has recently been nominated as a part time expert for four years to the Market Court of Finland for energy matters. His strength areas include demanding multitask new activities and working together in a specialist organization. He has also a detailed knowledge on pulping and paper industry like the whole chemical recovery through his working within Ahlstrom Corporation. He also knows the realities and practical challenges related to bioeconomy."
