New EU-project: REACH contribution to development of emerging technologies (englanniksi)

The focus of the study is on how REACH AND CLP foster the development, commercialisation and rapid time-to-market of products of emerging technologies. The EU regulatory framework is in principle technology neutral and forward looking. However, in some areas fragmented regulatory framework or regulatory uncertainties may be a reason for lack of private investments in early technologies, e.g. into uspcaling or market uptake. This may reduce the full potential exploitation of emerging technologies as a means of addressing the EU 2020 challenges. The focus of this work is to analyse how emerging technologies can be smoothly and effectively introduced on the market within the given legislative framework, and whether the legislative framework can capture specific issues potentially raised by a new technology. Specific attention will be paid to the potential for enhancing success of spin-offs and SMEs. (DG Enterprise and Industry, 2011-2012).
